How often are records updated on Dow Jones?

Dow Jones have a content research team that monitor existing profiles to ensure any updates to the individual / entity are reflected. To check when a profile was last reviewed, you can view the 'watchlist last reviewed date' within the 'details tab' of the profile. It should be noted that the team are notified of any major changes (such as changes to sanctions / PEP statuses) to individuals / entities outside of their independent review of the profile.

Dow Jones Research team monitors sanctions lists from more than 50 sanctioning bodies using a thorough data collection, management and transfer methodology. Sanctions sources are monitored daily through a combination of proactive manual monitoring and automated alerts. Dow Jones aims to process updates to priority sanctions lists, which include sanctions lists published by the Office of Foreign Assets Control, United Nations, European Union or HM Treasury, within 24 business hours of the data being published or the sanctions coming into force if issued during working hours Monday to Friday. Unusually large and/or complex updates or those published on the weekend may take longer.

Dow Jones Risk & Compliance content is reviewed daily and continuously. It is updated as a result of media and source monitoring, carried out by the Research team daily to identify any events that might lead to creation of new profiles or changes to existing profiles on the database, such as changes to the political roles of an individual or changes to ownership of a company. The monitoring is against Factiva publications or across a wide range of online sources, depending on the content set. The websites of regulators, publishers of sanctions lists and other official lists are also monitored periodically to be able to pick up any changes to these lists as soon as possible and apply these updates to the database. Some content sets are also periodically reviewed to make sure that the information such as political roles in the Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) or state ownership in the State Owned Companies (SOC) content set is still up-to-date. Updates to profiles can also be made following requests from users of the database.

All updates to the Risk & Compliance data that are carried out by the Research team are available immediately in Dow Jones Risk & Compliance internet product versions, which are updated continuously throughout the day. Updates are then consolidated and distributed through Dow Jones Risk & Compliance feeds at established frequencies and reach KYC360 during our daily file feed.

Please note, for politically exposed classifications, Dow Jones rely on publicly available information to populate their profiles.
